Breakthrough Calendar

Privacy policy

Updated October 23, 2026 · TestFlight beta

Breakthrough Calendar, operated by Kick Research LLC, helps you select calendar events and schedule audible alarms.

Your calendars and alarms

With your permission, the app reads calendars available on your iPhone to display events and schedule alarms. Event selections, alarm titles and times, calendar choices, and settings are stored on your device. Your full calendar database is not uploaded. Optional sharing and early-event reminders upload only the included Breakthrough events described below. When you save a new event, it is written to the calendar you choose; that calendar's provider handles any account synchronization. Device backups are governed by your Apple settings.

Optional accounts and saved preferences

You can use Breakthrough without an account. If you create one using Google, Apple, or email and password, Supabase processes your account identifier, email address, authentication credentials, and account-security logs. Sign-in sessions are kept in the iPhone Keychain. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth, not stored in the app. Confirmation and password-reset emails are sent by Resend from help@breakthroughcal.com; email open and click tracking are disabled.

When you enable preference sync, Supabase stores your appearance settings, alarm timing rules, title markers, personal AI instructions, calendar choices and selected event identifiers under your account. These preferences are linked to your account; other users cannot read them. Preference sync does not back up your calendar database. Optional sharing has its own separate controls, described below. Device permissions, AI consent choices, provider tokens and scheduled system-alarm identifiers stay on your device. You can delete your account and saved cloud preferences in Profile → Account & sign-in. Calendar events and local alarms remain unless you delete those separately. Provider security logs and backups may remain under the providers' retention policies.

Your optional profile

If you save a profile, Supabase stores your chosen name, unique username, avatar or profile photo, and optional birthday under your account. Profile photos are resized on the device before upload. Choosing a Google profile photo downloads it only when you request that option; Apple sign-in does not provide a profile photo. Your birthday remains private. Your name, username and profile picture are visible to people who find your exact username, accepted contacts, group members, and invitation recipients. Name search is optional and off by default. Deleting your account also deletes its saved profile.

Contacts, groups, and shared availability

Supabase stores your contacts, group memberships, invitations, verified contact details and sharing choices. Invitations require acceptance. Group membership does not automatically create contacts or share calendars. You choose separately whether to share included Breakthrough events with a contact or group: busy/free times, or titles and locations too. Alarm status does not affect which included events are shared. Sharing uploads the selected data to our server and Supabase. Other connected-calendar events and private birthday fields are excluded. Stopping sharing immediately removes access; previously seen or copied information cannot be recalled. Snapshots are replaced when your app syncs and are deleted after seven days without an update. We label availability older than 24 hours as out of date.

Invitations and optional texts

Email invitations and verification codes use Resend. Phone verification and optional automated calendar notifications use Telnyx. Verification does not change your sign-in method. A person without SMS consent can receive a personal invitation through the inviter's iPhone Messages app; Breakthrough does not automatically text that person. Verified users can separately opt into invitation notifications and one early-event reminder per day. Early-event reminders use your latest uploaded event times and your day/time-zone preferences. Message content does not need event titles. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is optional and not a condition of using the app.

We do not sell or share phone numbers, SMS consent records or mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Providers and carriers process the information needed to deliver and secure messages. Consent records are kept with your account; delivery records are retained for up to 30 days. Sent invitation message bodies are removed from our delivery queue; invitation links expire after 14 days. Account deletion removes contacts, memberships, invitations, verified details, consent and availability from our live database, and deletes groups you own. Transfer group ownership before deleting your account if you want those groups to continue. Provider logs and backups follow their retention policies.

Direct Google Calendar connection

You can separately connect Google Calendar without adding it to Apple Calendar. With your permission, the app communicates directly with Google's Calendar API to read your calendar list and events and to create or delete events when you ask. Google sign-in credentials are managed by Google's iOS SDK and stored in the Keychain; they are not sent to our extraction service or stored in cloud preferences. Google calendar data is used only to display your calendar and provide the event and alarm features you request. It is not used for advertising or AI training. Disconnect Google Calendar in Profile → Calendars to revoke access and cancel that connection's local event alarms. You can also revoke access in your Google account. Breakthrough's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Location suggestions

While you edit the location field, the app sends your search text to Apple Maps to suggest businesses, addresses, and places. Selecting a suggestion asks Apple Maps for its address. Breakthrough does not request your device location for this feature or send these searches to our server. You can keep a location you type without choosing a suggestion. The selected location is saved only when you save the event, to the calendar you choose.

Optional AI event entry

You can enter events manually without AI. Before first using AI suggestions, the app asks for your permission. When you choose Fill in details with that permission enabled, your typed or transcribed description, the current date and time, your selected time zone, and any enabled personal instructions are sent over HTTPS through our server to Google Gemini. Your description may contain personal information such as names or meeting locations; include only information you want processed for this purpose. Existing calendar events and your calendar list are not sent automatically.

The service returns suggested event details for you to review and edit. It cannot save events to your calendar. Our extraction service does not store event descriptions, personal instructions, or generated drafts and does not log their contents. It retains aggregate request counts to limit usage, not a history of your events. Network infrastructure processes your IP address to deliver the request. The extraction endpoint's access logging is disabled.

Google processes AI requests under the Gemini API terms. For paid API services, Google states that prompts and responses are not used to improve its products, but it retains them for a limited period for abuse prevention and required legal or regulatory disclosures.

Optional voice entry

Speak asks for microphone permission and records one temporary audio file on your iPhone. Pauses do not end recording. Tap the waveform again when finished to stop recording and open the event editor. If the app is backgrounded or recording is interrupted, the recorded audio remains available through the waveform button for review. Before uploading audio for the first time, the app asks for your permission to use OpenAI transcription. With permission enabled, Stop sends the recording over HTTPS through our server to OpenAI; text streams back as transcription completes. Our service processes audio in memory and does not retain recordings or log their contents. The temporary file is removed after successful transcription, when you replace it with a new recording, or when you close the editor. If transcription fails, the file remains available in the editor for retry. Only the resulting text is sent to Google Gemini when you allow event suggestions. Review and edit before saving.

OpenAI processes audio under its privacy policy and API data controls. Provider retention and abuse-monitoring rules may apply. You can turn off Allow OpenAI voice transcription in Profile → App Settings and use typed entry instead.

Your choices

Turn off Allow Google Gemini event suggestions in Profile → App Settings to stop future AI processing. Use my instructions is enabled by default with blank text. Personal instructions are saved on your device; disable this switch to omit them from future requests without deleting them. Manual event entry, calendar browsing, and alarms remain available. Revoke calendar or alarm permissions in iPhone Settings. Removing the app removes its local preferences subject to Apple's backup behavior; events you saved to a calendar remain in that calendar until you delete them there. Already-sent AI requests are subject to the provider retention described above.

No advertising or tracking

The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell your data or track you across other companies' apps and websites. Apple's TestFlight service separately handles beta-installation information, crash reports, and feedback under Apple's TestFlight privacy information.
